RPG Pages

My friends and I started playing tabletop role-playing games in Junior High School. For some us that was the tail end of the 1970s. Now that my wife and I have children who’re old enough to play, we’ve introduced them to this imaginativc and creative pass time.

Our group plays many chronicles in many different systems.

Current Chronicles

The Forgotten Realms Chronicles

The Forgotten Realms was created by Ed Greenwood and is published by Wizards of the Coast.

  • Waterdeep Chronicle- This game is set in Waterdeep and the Sword Coast in the “modern” era. It’s run by my brother-in-law, John Niska, and uses the HERO game system.
  • Dalelands Chronicle – This game is set in the Dalelands. It’s a classic Forgotten Realms chronicle, beginning five years after the Time of Troubles. It’s a shared chronicle with multiple GMs (Ken, John and Luke). The adults play in Daggerdale and the kids play in Scardale. This game uses the AD&D 2nd edition rules.

The Rhiada Chronicles

These chronicles are set in a world of my own creation, drawing inspiration from history, mythology and authors as diverse as Barbara Hambly, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Michael Moorecock, Robert E. Howard, Clark Ashton Smith and George RR Martin. Both Rhiada Chronicles utilize the HERO game system.

  • Elocia Chronicle- This game is set in and around the Duchy of Elocia in the Sea of Endymion region. I am the only GM in the chronicle and I run it for the adult group.
  • Tyrathis Chronicle- This game is set in the wildlands far to the north of Elocia, near the Bay of Cimber. This is a shared chronicle with multiple GMs (Ken, Luke and John). We run it for the kids.

The Superhero Chronicles

These chronicles are set in a parallel world, much like our own, but with the addition of Superheroes. Both use the HERO games system. The chronicles focus on genetics and borrows heavily from the Eternals and Deviants storylines (Jack Kirby) in the Marvel Universe.

  • The Crusaders Chronicle – This game is set in New York City and features adult superheroes, most of whom are part of the Crusaders, a the unofficial superhero team of the Big Apple. It has three GMs (Ken, Luke and John) and is run for the adult group.
  • The Alpha Team Chronicles – This game is set in the NYC area. The characters are teenage superheroes attending a private school on Long Island. It also has three GMs (Ken, Luke and John) and is run for the kids.

The Witchstorm Chronicle

This chronicle is set in a parallel earth that has been ravaged by preternatural storms brought on by the abrupt return of magic to the world. The storms bring death and mutation to those they touch. The setting is Tucson, Arizona, but the city and its environs have been overrun by zombies and ghouls created when the witchstorm killed most of the populace. It is superhero apocalypse setting run by Ken, John and Luke. The chronicle is run for the adult group and uses the HERO games system.

The Carnival Chronicle

This chronicle is set in the world of Eberron, published by Wizards of the Coast. The characters are part of a traveling circus in Aundair and the Eldeen Reaches. The game is run for the adult group by John and uses the HERO games system.

The Pharos Sector Chronicles

This chronicle is a space opera game set in a sector located 500 light years coreward, spinward and north from the Solar system. The game is run by Ken, John and Luke for the adult group and uses the Traveller role playing rules.
